Diversify the Future Scholarship Fund

We are steadfast in our commitment to inspire, educate, and empower individuals pursuing careers in STEM. At Diversify the Future, our mission is to expand access, increase representation, and create meaningful opportunities for under-represented students to thrive in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

 

Through scholarship funding and community support, we invest in talented students who have the drive to lead, innovate, and shape the future of STEM.

 

Scholarship details

 

At Diversify the Future, we believe that a more inclusive STEM industry starts with equitable access to education. Through this mission, we are proud to award three (3) one-time $5,000 scholarships to exceptional students from under-represented communities who are pursuing bachelor’s degrees in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM).

These scholarships are designed to help break down financial barriers and propel talented individuals into impactful careers where they can innovate, lead, and shape the future of STEM. By providing meaningful support at a pivotal moment in a student’s academic journey, we hope to inspire confidence, nurture potential, and expand opportunities for diverse talent across the STEM landscape.

Scholarship funds are paid directly to the recipient’s accredited college or university and may be used toward tuition, housing, or other qualified educational expenses. Each award is a one-time scholarship and is not renewable.

 

Eligibility requirements:

 

  • High school seniors applying to bachelor’s degree program for science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM), enrolling in Fall 2026.

  • A member of an under-represented group (including but not limited to underrepresented racial or ethnic populations, women, low income, individuals with disabilities, etc).

  • Applicants must currently reside in the Greater Chicagoland area but may apply to any university or college in the United States.

Application Process:

 

  • Students must complete an application form and submit EITHER a written personal essay, OR a video essay in response to the following statement:

 

The purpose of the Diversify the Future Foundation is to provide Chicagoland residents from under-represented and disadvantaged backgrounds access to STEM-specific college scholarships. Why do you believe you deserve this scholarship over other applicants?

  • Selected applicants will move forward to Interview with the Diversify the Future Board and will be notified following the deadline.

  • The successful applicant will be notified in the Summer with distribution of the award upon enrollment in the Fall Semester.
